Dear Colleagues and Friends,
The European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy is delighted to invite you to Thessaloniki, Greece for its 39th Annual Congress.
Thessaloniki was founded in 315 BC by King Cassander of Macedon and named after his wife, Thessalonike, sister of Alexander the Great. Thessaloniki has always been an important city across the ages.
Located on the Thermaic Gulf, at the northwest corner of the Aegean Sea, Thessaloniki’s unique personality is mostly due to its people, historical background and amazing surroundings. Thanks to its numerous festivals and vibrant cultural life, Thessaloniki is considered the Greeks’ cultural capital.
The ESRA Annual Congress is considered one of the largest world-class platforms for clinicians and scientists within the rapidly evolving Anaesthesiology and Pain Therapy Communities. Following ESRA tradition, an exceptional scientific programme has been developed, for both young and experienced delegates. It will be focused on state-of-the-art presentations in our field, as well as on new insights, ranging from basic science to clinical research and therapeutic interventions, with contemporary developments being presented and the latest evidence debated. Areas that will be covered include fields of interest in the application and daily practice of regional anaesthesia / analgesia, patients’ perioperative care, Point of Care Ultrasound, as well as acute and chronic pain management, topics of special interest for anaesthesiologists and pain therapy specialists.
This meeting format will encourage interactivity, framed by your input, commitment and pro-activity. We have created a high-quality scientific programme, modified and focused on promoting networking between speakers and the audience, which is considered of utmost importance. The scientific standard of the ESRA Annual Congress is now acknowledged as one of the best in the world, and as a result carries a high rating with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.

We are going through an exciting time for both regional anaesthesia and pain therapy, with both subspecialties still growing and evolving in a challenging healthcare environment.
For this reason, the theme selected for this 39th ESRA Annual Congress will be: “Shaping the Future of Regional Anaesthesia, Perioperative Care & Pain Therapy”.
As we were unfortunately unable to visit Thessaloniki these last 2 years, we have prepared an inspiring congress for 2022 in this magnificent Greek city by the seaside.
